The world-renowned Sonar Festival, held in Barcelona, Spain every year since 1994, finalised their lineup today for the musical event, which will last from June 14th to 17th, 2018.
Today, more than 50 artists were added to the lineup, among those being Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, who are now set to close out the festival on Sunday with a new audiovisual show titled Two. In addition with these headlining artists, Objekt, Miss Kittin & Kim Ann Foxman, Call Super, DJ Stingray & Mumdance, Demdike Stare, Suzanne Kraft & Jonny Nash, Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement (Dominick Fernow, Philippe Hallais and Silent Servant), Ben Klock & DJ Nobu and more also are slated to perform at the festival.
Another concept that will be presented at the festival’s 25th edition will feature sending music broadcasts into outer space. This enterprise will be open to public submissions under the name Sónar Calling GJ273b, along with musicians such as Autechre, Carsten Nicolai and Nina Kraviz contributing their work in order to “travel through space to an unknown audience.”
