The Bristol-based electronic producer and DJ, Om Unit, joins the veteran Canadian artist, Scott Monteith aka Deadbeat, for the 48th episode of Orb Podcast, after their joint release Root, Stalk, Leaf And Bloom on Midnight Shift.
Jim Coles better known as Om Unit has started originally producing jungle as a teenager in the 1990s, he then turned to turntablism and released several albums in the 2000s. It was not until 2009 that the Om Unit alias came about with his debut release. On the other hand, Deadbeat, now based in Berlin, has been releasing dub-laden minimal electronics since 2000; collaborating with well-known names such as Monolake, Paul St Hilaire, and Nick Höppner.
For this joint podcast, Deadbeat and Om Unit state that they aimed “to present a broad range of music that influences us but also represent a small taste of what we hope to bring to our joint DJ sets.”
