At the end of this year, with the twelfth Orb Premiere summary, we surpassed the milestone of two hundred premieres on our channel. Beyond just the numbers, though, the success of this endeavor can also be measured qualitatively through new and ongoing collaborations with established and emerging labels and artists, leaving us with a strong sense of encouragement and positivity. Naturally, all this would not be possible without the commitment, vision, and dedication of those across the electronic music community whose efforts enrich our daily moments and offer intimate dancefloor experiences. The contemplation of such an exciting course only leaves us eagerly awaiting what’s coming next. Before that though, a listen to the remaining ten contemplative, energetic, and uplifting tracks for 2024 instills a vivid and varied emotional whirlwind.
Nathan Kofi – Efua
Warm, crystallized hues graciously enhance the bouncy feature of Nathan Kofi’s “Efua” percussiveness, giving a delightful, innate, and layered depth of prismatic shimmers. That colourful track closes Kofi’s I Am That I Am debut release on De Lichting.
Sub Accent – Spiral VIII
Revolving inwards a concussively acidic spiral, Sub Accent’s “Spiral VIII” leans into deep, cerebral subsonic motifs to fill a sentimentally stirring space where enigmatic sequences collide. The eighth Spiral is taken from the two-part, homonymous EP on Sub Accent from the label’s founder, continuing the ACCENTEP series.
Foreign Material – Celestial Choirs of Motanskuna
Hypnotic combustions temper with aural seams and graze the woven cosmic dome as Foreign Material’s “Celestial Choirs of Montaskuna” enkindle the atmospheric beacon for a subtly profound and embracing frequential geometry. The Choirs sing their song in the Vesperal Lights EP, out via Belgium’s NORITE.
Ilya Gurin-Babayeu – SNEK Reo 2012
“SNEK Reo 2012” is a considerate, tailored-through-sound escapism from the tangled urban cityscape moulding futuristic sparks with introspective aestheticism and reflecting through its structure’s nostalgic cracks Ilya’s contemporary, mentally-exhilarating compositional complexity. The track is from Ilya Gurin-Babayeu’s latest, self-released GAME-O EP.
RM Estali – The Arcs (Pluralist Remix)
Within RM Estali’s “The Arcs,” Pluralist blends organic fillers of jungle-like echoes and ground-solid, trembling basslines with eruptive synthetic whirls, granting a gravitational rhythmic perplexity. That remix, and three more, is in the Dynamic Slicing Remixes EP on Virtual Forest Records.
Sciuridae – Sundara
In its brief and impactful duration, “Sundara” embodies Sciuridae’s mystical and meditative touch amidst natural sounds and oriental beats, harmonising vivid natural movements with mental serenity and clarity. “Sundara” is taken from the Sciuridae release, the first entry of the Woodland Creatures’ Thematic Cluster Nostalgic Wavs series.
Steve O’Sullivan – Yashill (Raw Alt Mix) (Unreleased)
Steve O’Sullivan’s raw take on “Yashill”, previously unreleased and now found in Green Trax vol.2 collection on trip recordings, projects a storm of unrelenting rough energy laden with heavy-buzzing bass tremors, minimalistic drips, and steadily twisting fluctuations in a flow of trippy circuits.
Cyberlife – Reflexive Perspective
Lost within the corridors of a digital labyrinth, Cyberlife’s “Reflexive Perspective” is an artificially induced dreamscape generated through synthetic oscillations, warping poundings, and caustic thrusts that endure long enough for the sense-awakening chorus. The track is from the Mental Projector’s Mantras EP, which marks the Cyberlife Series label launch.
GNMR – Amelia, Totalmente Sola
The captivating, perpetual tribalistic pulsations in GNMR’s “Amelia, Totalmente Sola,” a track from the Future Empire EP in Mung Records, integrate with enticing groovy rattles for a lucidly invigorating trance, fostering a deep sense of immersion and connectedness.
