Orb Premieres: August 2024

As another summer comes to an end, we bid our farewells with our pockets full of new experiences. August is typically the peak of vacation time, but it also signals the unofficial start of the upcoming season. With the famous Perseids meteor shower, enchanting full moons, warm waters, and adventurous days and nights, August is as picturesque as invigorating. That spirit and feeling are well-captured through the newest Orb Premieres with various uplifting, energetic, and dreamy compositions. Check out the following fourteen-track list to catch up with what you missed from our channel during your last days off.

Angel Attack – Grounding

Angel Attack’s frontal, broken-beat tension in “Grounding” cloaks the skittish, electro-laden fervour with warm and climactic loops, anchoring emotions in a depressurising drumming complexity. Enjoy “Grounding” on Angel Attack’s latest New Frontiers EP via House of Reptile.

Sedona – Pulsation (Test Tube Remix)

Uplifting, enigmatic, and sensual, Test Tube’s take on Sedona’s psychedelic gem “Pulsation” rides the endless and colourful cosmic curves in a rhythmic frequential dance where all the cranked and foundational golden-era electronics turn up to form an evocative symbiosis. That toned-up piece is in the remastered Pulsation output by UK’s slush.

Not A Headliner – Aquafuture

The quirky methodical motifs in Not A Headliner’s “Aquafuture” form an elusive flow and storm hastily with extensive dynamism while sliding between futuristic bleeping neon lights on a bumpy, percussive haze. “Aquafuture” is in the self-titled EP on Club Gordo’s Gordo Trax catalogue.

Lance Gurisik – Glut

“Glut,” an attractively abstract composition by Lance Gurisik, progresses through contemporary, sense-provoking, and densely-layered themes to create a bold excursion in the fields of dreamlike tonalities, gently calling in a world of polyphonic immersion and cinematic grandeur. Find “Glut” in the Guardian UK-designated PROFFER release on 33 Sides.

Rory St John – Accidental Emergency

The expansive drilling and persistent wobbling framed within Rory St John’s “Accidental Emergency” sonic patterns drift uncontrollably in a polyrhythmic frenzy through coarse and wavy terrains, forming an outward-explosive and agitated interconnection. That track is part of the XVIII Various Artist initiative released from Belfast’s Acroplane Recordings.

Parry – Buoyant

Parry’s firm, lined-up bass pulsations in “Buoyant” form a bursting sequence of levelled-up groovy tinctures and warping arrangements, conjuring an addictively warm feeling with its engagingly confident, laid-back tempo. “Buoyant” brings a deep freshness to your speakers and is one of the four tracks in Tight’s Chest Nightingale EP.

Polygonia & Shoal – Pendulum

Polygonia and Shoal conjoin mind and spirit to cast the spell of “Pendulum,” which shines through its emotional tenderness while maintaining a faintly rhythmical current of organically eclectic aestheticism. The dive into this pristine synergy is available by Harmony Rec. in the Limping on Clouds EP.

Edward Richards – Pointer

The mesmerising layout of winding cuts and pounding echoes in Edward Richards’ “Pointer” advances through a lightly dub-soaked ambience, combining the precise patterns of synthetic outputs with controlled, natural fluidity. “Pointer” dwells in the Otherworld split release, out on Kinetic Vision.

Havantepe – Strong Force

Tempting with its dub-heavy sways, Havantepe’s “Strong Force” mid-pacing adds an unusual solitary warmth to a minimalistic landscape as its loops stride confidently to nurture and enrich with their balanced-in-groove presence. “Strong Force” is one part of the story envisioned in the Zero-G EP on spclnch.

DHÆÜR – Chapter 03 (Deluka Remix)

Built on DHÆÜR’s acoustically sublime sound design, Deluka’s remix on “Chapter 3” prolongs the hunger for an in-depth oneiric realm traversal, capitalising on the synth-backed hypnotic hues and circulating high-pitched rings fueled by deep-sounding kicks and jumpy hats. That “Chapter 03” reimagination is extracted from the Supercinema 05 EP on Supercinema Records.

Qwerty – Jadran

“Jadran” is a refreshingly light composition by Qwerty with clean textures and a symmetric elemental exchange in each iteration, formulating rays of positive vibes in a highly captivating and elevating soundscape. That track is available in Qwerty’s Jadran EP through Polyend Records.

ZentaSkai – A2 Bob

Away from unnecessary sonic complexity, Zentaskai’s A2 “Bob” is a comforting minimal combination of dub-framed strings and bleeping drips, complemented by a well-structured tapping and mellow keys. That second A-side track is part of Zentaskai’s vinyl EP Bob, released on MASK.

Emelexy – Psyte Seeing

In Emelexy’s “Psyte Seeing,” the quirky background passages are dissolved by firm-pounding, textural unfolding that gradually generates a trance-like convoy of erupting warps and contemplative energetic depths. “Psyte Seeing” is extracted from the same-titled EP on Niobe.

Treasure Island – Human Consciousness

Treasure Island’s “Human Consciousness” is a psychedelic chant oscillating between transcendentally mystifying grips and cerebral bass motifs, calling for a unifying séance in a rewarding trip extending through No Loss EP on Special Place Recordings.
